Frequently Asked Questions

What Sydney homeowners and property managers ask before booking gardening, landscaping, and outdoor work

Yes. Every quote starts with a free on-site visit where we walk the property, discuss what you want done, and note access, soil, drainage, and any site-specific factors that affect scope. You receive a written, itemised quote within a few business days with no obligation to proceed.

We quote after inspecting the property rather than providing square-metre or hourly rates over the phone. Pricing depends on the scope of work, site access, materials required, green waste volume, and how long the job will take. The quote is fixed and itemised so you can see exactly what is included. For recurring garden maintenance, we quote a per-visit rate based on the agreed scope.

We do not enforce a strict minimum, but most of our work involves at least a half-day visit. Very small jobs such as a single plant replacement or a quick hedge trim may be better suited to a handyman. If you are unsure whether the scope is large enough, call us on 0415 817 880 and we will let you know before booking a site visit.

We accept cash, bank transfer, and card payment. For larger projects such as landscaping or retaining wall builds, we typically structure payments in stages tied to project milestones rather than requiring the full amount upfront.

It depends on the time of year and how much work is already scheduled. During quieter months we can often start within a week of quote acceptance. In spring and early summer when demand peaks, lead times may stretch to two or three weeks for larger jobs. Urgent work like storm clean-ups or safety-related tree reduction is prioritised where possible.

We operate seven days a week, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Most scheduled work runs Monday to Saturday, but we are available on Sundays for jobs that need it. We respect council noise restrictions and adjust start times in residential areas accordingly.

We ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a visit. For recurring maintenance clients, we move the visit to the next available day at no charge as long as we can fit it within the same billing period. Repeated same-day cancellations may affect scheduling priority.

Light rain does not stop most garden work, but heavy rain, waterlogged soil, or unsafe conditions on slopes will cause us to reschedule. For jobs like paving or retaining walls where water affects base preparation and curing, we delay rather than risk a poor result. We will contact you the morning of a visit if weather forces a change.

Yes. Abloom Gardening holds NSW licence #291815C and carries full public liability insurance. A certificate of currency is available on request. Sam and Chad have been running the business since 1995, and every job is covered by our licence and policy.

Since 1995. Sam and Chad founded the business over 30 years ago and still run operations and lead crews on site. Most of our work comes through repeat clients and referrals, which is the clearest sign that the standard has held up over time.

Sam and Chad lead crews on site and are directly involved in quoting, scoping, and delivering work. You will not deal with a sales team and then have a different crew turn up. The people who inspect your property and write the quote are the same people who carry out or supervise the job.

Let us know within 48 hours and we will return to address the issue at no extra charge. Most concerns are resolved within the same week. For plant installations, if a plant we supplied and installed fails within the first eight weeks and was watered as advised, we replace it. For structural work like paving and retaining walls, we stand behind our workmanship for twelve months.

We provide seven core outdoor services: gardening (pruning, planting, tidy-ups), garden maintenance (recurring mowing, hedging, weeding), landscaping (design-to-build outdoor projects), tree lopping (branch reduction, canopy control, small removals), paving (driveways, paths, patios), retaining walls (slope stabilisation, drainage, wall replacement), and high pressure water cleaning (driveways, walls, decks, pool surrounds).

Yes. We service private homes, rental properties, small strata complexes, and commercial grounds. Commercial and strata maintenance is typically scheduled on a set day each fortnight or month so property managers can plan around it. Residential work is scheduled based on scope and availability.

Both are available and neither requires the other. Many clients start with a one-off garden tidy-up or landscaping project and then move onto a recurring maintenance plan once the property is in good shape. Others only need us once for a specific job. There is no lock-in contract for recurring visits either — you can pause or stop at any time with reasonable notice.

Yes, and it often makes sense to do so. A tree lopping job that opens up garden space pairs naturally with a garden reshaping visit. Paving and retaining wall work often run together on sloping blocks. Pressure cleaning finishes well alongside a maintenance visit. Combining services means one crew, one clean-up, and one invoice.

We handle branch reduction, canopy control, pruning, and selected small to mid-sized tree removals. We do not carry out large-scale tree removals, crane-assisted work, or jobs within the power line clearance zone. For work that requires a certified arborist or specialist equipment beyond our scope, we will let you know upfront and can advise on the right referral.

We service suburbs across five main regions: the Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Hills District, and Ryde. Our coverage extends to surrounding suburbs within those corridors. If you are unsure whether we reach your area, call us and we will confirm before booking a site visit.

No. Travel is built into our quoting for all suburbs within our regular service areas. We do not add a separate call-out fee or distance surcharge. For properties well outside our usual coverage, we will let you know during the initial conversation rather than quoting and then adding costs later.

Yes. Many clients call with a general problem — an overgrown yard, a crumbling retaining wall, a garden that needs a reset — rather than a specific service request. The site visit is where we work out what is actually needed and recommend the right scope. You do not need to know the technical terms or pick a service category before getting in touch.

We walk the property with you, discuss what you want done, note the site conditions (access, soil, slope, drainage, existing planting, structures), and take measurements where needed. For larger jobs we may photograph the site for reference when writing up the quote. The visit usually takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on the property. The written quote follows within a few business days.

Routine maintenance visits typically take two to four hours. One-off garden tidy-ups and pressure cleaning jobs are usually completed in a single day. Landscaping projects run between two and six weeks depending on scope. Paving jobs take three to ten working days. Retaining walls range from three days for a short timber sleeper wall to two weeks for a taller engineered concrete block wall. We include an estimated timeline in every quote.

Yes. Green waste, cut timber, debris, and any material generated by the job is removed from the property on the same day or as part of the project clean-up. Disposal is included in the quoted price. We process waste through licensed recycling facilities where possible.

Not necessarily. Many of our regular maintenance clients give us access instructions and we complete the visit while they are at work. For quoting and scope discussions, it helps to be present for the initial site visit. For larger projects, we coordinate access and check-in points with you at the start so the work can proceed without requiring you to be on site for every visit.

Most gardening, maintenance, pressure cleaning, and standard paving jobs do not require council approval. Retaining walls over 600 mm generally need development consent, and walls over 900 mm typically also require engineer certification. Some tree work may require a permit depending on the species, size, and your local council's tree preservation order. We advise on permit requirements during the quoting process and handle the paperwork where it is part of the project scope.

A standard garden maintenance visit covers lawn mowing, edging, hedge trimming, light pruning, weed removal, and a general tidy of beds, paths, and hard surface edges. We adjust the scope each visit based on what the garden actually needs that fortnight or month rather than running through a fixed checklist regardless of conditions. Larger tasks like heavy pruning, planting, or post-storm clean-ups can be added when needed.

Most Sydney gardens perform best on a fortnightly cycle during the warmer months, stretching to monthly over winter. Properties with fast-growing hedges, large lawn areas, or strata presentation requirements often stay fortnightly year-round. We recommend a frequency after inspecting your property and adjust it seasonally so you are not paying for visits the garden does not need.

Yes. We maintain properties for owners who travel regularly, landlords between tenants, and property managers who need a reliable crew on a set schedule. We can provide photo updates after each visit if you are interstate or overseas, and we will flag any issues that need attention before they become expensive problems.
